How can you check if a school message is true?

हिंदी में पढ़ें

Before acting on a school-related message, check who issued it, whether it is current and whether it applies to your child. Look for the complete notice on the official source or confirm it through a school contact you already know. Do this before forwarding it, sending documents or making an unexpected payment.

A protective shield beside a learning book

For example, a WhatsApp image says school is closed tomorrow, but the image has no year and no complete notice. Check with the school before changing your plans. An old holiday message can look new when it is forwarded again.

What is a reliable place to check?

Start with the department, board or authority that issued the notice, or ask the school for the complete official copy. A cropped image or a video by an agent may leave out a page, the academic year or a later correction. A government logo alone does not settle the question.

Official resource pages can help you find the current document. For example, the APAAR portal lists forms in its own resource directory. Follow the official listing to the form rather than assuming a photocopy in a message is the latest version. S29: Official APAAR forms

What six things should you check?

  1. Issuer: which department, government, board or authority issued it?
  2. Document: is there a complete order, reference number and date?
  3. Coverage: which states, school categories, classes or eligible groups are included?
  4. Timing: what is the effective date, school year and actual deadline?
  5. Status: is it a proposal, recommendation, final order, amendment or extension?
  6. Action: what must this family do, through which authorised channel?

These are editorial verification steps, not a legal rule that every authentic document must have an identical format.

Why might a national announcement need a local check?

A national announcement can establish direction while leaving local details unresolved. The Class 1 age direction illustrates why a parent must still check the relevant cut-off. The December 2024 promotion announcement illustrates why school category and the date of a state-position list matter. S06: Class 1 age guidance S09: Class 5 and 8 rules

If a message announces a scholarship, free books, a meal or a reimbursement, ask for the specific scheme notice. Check eligibility, covered school categories, the relevant period, the application route and any current extension. A programme name, old budget announcement or general ID number is not an individual approval letter.

How should you respond to an urgent request?

Ask the authorised school office: “Does this apply to my child’s class and this school year? Please share the source and the exact action required.” Verify unexpected payment or document demands through a known contact rather than the number printed in the forwarded message.

Keep the official notice and your acknowledgement. If a correction arrives later, keep it with the original so you can explain which instruction you followed. Never circulate a spreadsheet of children’s identity numbers to help other parents “check” a rumour.

What should you check with the school?

Local notices need the school’s current state/UT, management category, relevant board instructions and school year. This general article announces no new fee, holiday, application deadline or scheme entitlement.

What else might you want to know?

Is an official old notice still useful?

It may explain background, but check for later amendments and whether the relevant period has ended.

What if the official page does not open?

Ask the issuing office or authorised school contact for a complete copy and clarification. A broken page does not establish either that a rumour is true or that an older instruction remains current.
