How do you fix mistakes in Aadhaar and school records?

हिंदी में पढ़ें

First find out which document has the mistake. If the school record is wrong, ask the school office for a correction. If Aadhaar is wrong, follow UIDAI’s official update process. Use the correct supporting document, keep the request number and check the result. One correction may not automatically update every other system.

A student record card and an open book

For example, the birth certificate says 2018 but the school has typed 2019. Show the correct birth certificate and ask the school to check its entry. Changing a correct document to match a typing mistake can create more trouble later.

What does a mismatch actually mean?

A mismatch simply means two records show different details, such as a name or birth date. APAAR’s FAQ says such differences can stop its ID-creation process. The next step is to check the information and correct the wrong record. S03: APAAR questions and answers

A problem with a digital record and a child’s school admission are different matters. The Supreme Court’s Aadhaar judgment says Aadhaar is not compulsory for school admission. Ask the school to explain any document problem clearly rather than treating an online error as the final answer. S27: Aadhaar admission judgment

How can you find and correct the wrong record?

Make a private list of the child’s name, birth date and other disputed details as shown in the birth record, admission register and available identity documents. Do not circulate this list in the class group. Mark the entry you believe is wrong and the document supporting the correction.

If the school record has an error, submit a written correction request to the office. If Aadhaar needs correction, use UIDAI’s authorised process and accepted supporting documents. Ask whether the requested change needs a centre visit. UIDAI says updates are subject to verification, and the Aadhaar number remains the same after an update. S26: Aadhaar update help

What should you do after asking for a correction?

  • Keep the acknowledgement or reference number privately.
  • Ask how to check progress and when to follow up.
  • After approval, verify the corrected school record as well as the identity document.
  • Ask which linked systems need a separate update; do not assume everything changes automatically.
  • Keep originals safe and use only the documents actually required.

UIDAI also provides guidance on children’s mandatory biometric updates at ages 5 and 15. Check its current instructions and charges rather than relying on an old social-media post. A biometric update is different from correcting a name or birth date. S26: Aadhaar update help

What should you check with the school?

School-register corrections may have state, board or school-year procedures. Ask who approves the change and what supporting documents are accepted. This article does not promise a fee, a processing time or approval of a particular request.
