Learning at home

How can DIKSHA help your child study at home?

हिंदी में पढ़ें

DIKSHA is a government learning platform with digital resources connected to school textbooks. A textbook’s QR code can help you find related material. Some content can be used as a guest or downloaded for later, depending on the resource and device. Pick a lesson that matches your child’s class, language and current topic, then check what they understood.

For example, your child is learning fractions. Open the relevant textbook resource, watch or read one explanation together, then ask the child to draw equal parts on paper. That last step helps you see what the lesson actually made clear.

How do QR codes and downloads help?

A QR code is the small square pattern printed in many textbooks. DIKSHA’s help pages explain that it may open one learning resource or a list of related resources. Check the class, subject, language and edition before choosing. S19: DIKSHA QR code help

DIKSHA’s mobile guidance describes guest access and downloading content for offline use. Check what the particular resource and device support; one feature’s requirements may differ from another’s. S20: DIKSHA mobile help

For online safety, CIET-NCERT has guidance for children and parents in English and Hindi. Use it to agree on simple habits for a shared phone or tablet. S21: Online safety guidance

How can you choose the right lesson?

Check the board or syllabus, class, subject, language and textbook edition. If the printed QR code does not work, ask the teacher which official resource or code to use. Do not assume the first search result matches the school’s current lesson.

Try a short learning cycle: identify one question, open the relevant explanation, then ask the child to solve or explain something without the screen. For example, after a lesson on fractions, the child might draw equal parts and explain them. Completing the video is not the same as understanding the idea.

If connectivity is unreliable, explore the available download options when you have access, or ask for a suitable printed activity. Do not assume that every family owns a separate phone for each child.

How can you keep online learning safer?

The following are practical editorial suggestions, not legal screen-time limits:

  • Open links from trusted school communication or official portals.
  • Avoid sharing identity documents, passwords, OTPs or a child’s live location in public groups.
  • Review privacy and permission settings with an adult.
  • Tell the child they can report an upsetting message without being blamed.
  • Stop an unfamiliar page that demands unnecessary information or payment and verify it independently.

Use a shared device in a setting where an adult can help. Agree what the child will do if an advertisement, private message or unexpected page interrupts a lesson. A simple plan is more useful than only saying “be careful.”

What should you check with the school?

Ask which resources are part of the school’s current teaching plan, which activities are optional and what alternative is available without a device. This article does not require a paid subscription, Aadhaar or APAAR for every learning activity.

What else might you want to know?

Does all digital learning require an account?

No single rule covers every service. DIKSHA documents guest use; a specific feature may have separate requirements. Read the current prompt before sharing information.

What should we do about an abusive message?

Tell a trusted adult, keep necessary evidence privately and use the appropriate reporting route. Do not repost the child’s private information or harmful content to a large group.
